One of these structural elements is the substructures members named as “deep foundation”. Piles are considered one means of transporting loads from superstructures to stiff strata when structures are placed on very soft or unstable upper strata. Usually, pile foundation involves the use of traditional materials such as concrete, steel and timber. These materials, however, suffer from strength degradation and highly effective rehabilitation cost, when exposed to harsh or marine aggressive environments. Due to these severe environments, a relatively new trend in piling industry is to use FRP material as substitute materials. However, researchers’ studies related to the use of FRP materials as pile are very limited. Thus, this paper investigated the FRP pile behavior in sandy soil using finite element modeling under static loading condition. This modeling was carried out using the well-known commercial package ABAQUS. The pile is made of FRP tubes filled with concrete. These FRP tubes has different type of fibers (i.e. Glass: GFRP; Carbon: CFRP) with constant outer diameter, 60 cm. The pile is embedded in sandy soil. The parameters studied are summarized in pressure loads and slenderness ratios. The results show CFRP tubes have a higher capacity due to its stiffness. Also, increasing the slenderness ratio decreases the pile displacement response.
