Design conception of multiprocessor control system for autonomous mobile robot

Abstract eng:
The present technological trends in area of microelectronics and sensorics allow a rapid research and develop in many application regions. One of the regions is the research of the autonomous mobile robots. Recently, there is an effort to convert the academic development of the individual prototypes into the serially produced mobile systems, which are widely used in practice. These systems are more and more used in different areas of infrastructure (cleaning mobile systems, mobile systems in hospitals, etc.), in the civil engineering and the machine building. In connection with the intention of the project: Research Centre for Engineering Manufacturing Techniques and Technology, project No. 6: Automatic Manipulation in Technological Workplaces and Manufacturing Systems, is solved research, development and realisation of the autonomous mobile robot (with working name VUTBOT 2) and its integration into manufacturing system. This paper deals with the multiprocessor control system design for experimental autonomous mobile robot for automatic attendance of manufacturing system, on which all of the experiments will be done for local and global navigation. The article summarizes achieved results in machine-ware, hardware and software research works, too.
