Carbon fibres can be used for these composites to improve their high temperature resistance and mechanical/fracture properties. For quantification of the resistance against a crack propagation the laboratory specimens 40x40x160 mm were heated with temperatures up to 200, 400, 600, 800 and 1000°C with holding time 1 hr; a set of comparative specimens was made as well. After cooling to the laboratory temperature, the specimens were notched with a diamond saw and subjected to the three point bending test with a notch in a tensile zone. Determined mechanical/fracture parameters served for comparison of suitability of PC and HC composites utilization as protective fire resistant slab structures.
