000002057 520__ $$2eng$$aRILEM is a progressive organization, which looks confidently to the future. From a scientific point of view, this reflects in the last decade shift in scientific themes. Materials with lower environmental impacts such as alkali-activated materials, concrete with supplementary cementitious materials or sustainable innovative bituminous materials are now the focus of several RILEM Technical Committees. In this paper, we will focus on the specific case of concrete, describe the recent trends in research on concrete sustainability and illustrate these by the technical committees dealing with them within the RILEM organization.
