PROPERTIES OF CONCRETE USING HIGH SLAG CEMENT

Abstract eng:
Properties of concrete using newly developed high slag cement which includes over 60% ground granulated blast-furnace slag was studied. It is known that conventional high slag cement is difficult to be applied to concrete structures due to its inferior performance such as low early-age strength, high drying shrinkage and high carbonation rate. Those performances of the newly developed high slag cement are improved by using higher blain slag and by increasing SO3 content in connection with a newly developed special water-reducing agent for high flowability and high early-age strength. In this paper it is demonstrated that the properties of the concrete using high slag cement and the water-reducing agent are nearly the same with those using normally used slag cement (JIS Type B slag cement) or ordinarily portland cement
