EXPERIMENTAL TESTS OF PUSH-OFF SHEAR STRENGTH OF RECYCLED AGGREGATE CONCRETE AND NORMAL AGGREGATE CONCRETE

Abstract eng:
The shear-friction behavior of the recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) compared to the natural aggregate concrete (NAC) is investigated. Two out of six concrete specimens were cast using conventional NAC concrete while the other four specimens were cast using concrete with 50% recycled aggregates. Variable transverse reinforcements were used in the specimens. Results showed that in terms of the strength of the push-off the effect of using recycled coarse aggregate was very close to the specimens with virgin aggregates. A comparison between the specimens shear strengths and the ACI building code calculations showed that the calculated results were conservative.
