This smart concreting technique is based on the principles of magnetorheology. Small amplitude oscillatory shear tests were conducted on fresh cement paste and it was found that for a given dosage of magnetic particles the rheological properties could be altered by varying the magnitude of the applied magnetic field. Such a material can be useful in applications in which controlling the fresh-state behavior of concrete is critical. Proper placement of cement slurry or concrete will enhance durability, service life, and sustainability of the structures.
