COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH PROJECT ON EFFECTIVE USE OF LOW-CARBON CEMENTS

Abstract eng:
The Public Works Research Institute has initiated a collaborative research project with the goal of developing a guideline for effective use of supplementary cementing materials (SCMs) to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from the construction of reinforced and prestressed concrete structures. The guideline includes accelerated durability tests for SCM concrete, design and construction methods, and calculation procedures for carbon dioxide emissions. This paper presents an overview of the collaborative research project and preliminary research results on the strength, durability, and carbon dioxide emissions of concrete fabricated with different types of SCMs.
