INVESTIGATION ON THE BINDING OF TRACE ELEMENTS IN HARDENED CEMENT PASTES MADE OF OPC

Abstract eng:
In this research work, a method that gives indications for the fixation of heavy metals in hardened cement paste was developed. The concentrations of heavy metals in the pore solution were determined in the age of 15 min to 28 d. The course of hydration was analysed and the formation of hydration products was correlated with the pore solution concentrations of the heavy metals. This comparison gives hints on the relevant hydration products for the binding of heavy metals. In this paper results for Ba and Cr are presented.
