This pathological manifestation is strongly influenced by the type of cement used in concrete; however, cement is manufactured and specified without taking into account its resistance to the action of aggressive agents. To study the protective capacity of some types of cement, series were defined by varying the type of cement, water/cement ratio and curing period; and accelerated corrosion test was used in this research. The specimen molded with CPIII-40 cement clearly showed high resistance to corrosion caused by chloride ions.
