EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON SIZE EFFECT IN SHEAR STRENGTH OF RC BEAMS WITH RECYCLED COARSE AGGREGATE

Abstract eng:
This study evaluates the size effect in the shear performance of reinforce concrete beams with recycled coarse aggregates. The test variables include the type of aggregate, effective depth, and the amount of stirrups. From experimental results, it was found that the specimens with recycled coarse aggregates showed a similar shear response as compared with the specimens with natural aggregates. The deterioration in the shear strength of the specimens without shear reinforcement was observed in this test, regardless of the type of aggregates. On the other hand, the shear strength of the specimens with shear reinforcements did not decreased due to the contribution of the shear steel bars.
