MULTISCALE DETERMINATION OF CARBON DIOXIDE EMISSIONS FOR LIFE-CYCLE ASSESSMENT OF CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES BASED ON A MODIFIED INPUT-OUTPUT TABLE AND A SYSTEMATIC APPROACH TO COST ESTIMATION

Abstract eng:
A database of carbon dioxide emissions intensity was compiled for environmental life-cycle assessment of construction activities. The database consists of three smaller databases, including materials and manufacturing, labor, and scale of the structure. Each database is used for part of the inventory analysis at a different phase of infrastructure development. The elemental database for materials and manufacturing was developed using an input-output table, classifying construction materials in detail and considering physical quantity. The databases for labor and structures were compiled by summing the carbon dioxide emissions associated with the materials and manufacturing using a systematic cost estimation approach.
