A STUDY ON METHODS FOR INTEGRATING COST AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS IN THE SELECTION OF REPAIR METHODS FOR EXISTING CONCRETE STRUCTURES


Abstract eng:
The Japanese Concrete Standard Specifications prescribe that concrete structures shall sufficiently take into consideration the environment impacts, but it shows no specific evaluation methods. It is extremely important to investigate means for taking into account environmental impacts during the selection of repair methods for existing concrete structures because there is a large quantity of civil infrastructure stock in Japan. In this paper, the results of investigations into the methods for selecting proper repair for existing concrete structures by integrating cost, CO2 emissions and waste quantity are described based on the results of case studies.
