The floating support structure carries the self-weight of concrete blades to avoid large stress exerting on the rotating axes. This idea has completely changed the concept of traditional wind power production and has a great potential to make the wind power generation economic, efficient and sustainable. The generator can be used for sustainable energy development. Based on the experiments and aerodynamic analysis, a quantitative comparison with horizontal axis wind turbine indicates a clear advantage of this new type of Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT) in economic and power generation efficiency. Moreover, the optimum configuration of the system will be discussed.
