ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF THE REPLACEMENT OF AN EXISTING WOODEN FLOOR

Abstract eng:
The life cycle assessment (LCA) methodology can be used as a decision-making tool in the sustainable design and construction of buildings. However, there are not many studies investigating the use of LCA to compare alternative retrofit interventions on existing structures. The objective of the present study is to analyze the environmental impact of different replacement options for a typical old wooden roof in an existing building. The flooring options have been designed to achieve the same structural performance in terms of load bearing capacity.
