ON SUPERIORITY OF THE NEW PCM METHOD OF EXISTING RC PIERS IN ENVIRONMENT IMPACT

Abstract eng:
The new PCM Method had been developed. The major advantage of this method is that the strengthening thickness will be reduced to less than about 100 mm compared with a conventional RC jacketing in which the strengthening thickness is usually more than 250 mm. This advantage will be able to reduce the amount of the materials necessary to the strengthening dramatically. Therefore, it can be easily imagined that the new method has superiority over a RC jacketing in the point of environment impact. Then, the amount of CO2 exhaust was estimated for the case of the strengthening of an example bridge pier by the new method or a RC jacketing.
