As an offshoot of the IMPACT project, this paper concentrates on the IMPACT Initial Assessment for Substructure Tool (IAS Tool), a tool that performs a basic environmental assessment of common foundation solutions. This paper focuses on how the tool can positively influence the selection of various substructure solutions, including concrete, and discusses the importance of assessing the environmental impact of substructure at the concept design stage.
