Product design that enhances the knowledge and participation of the Cultural Heritage Site: "La Bastida de les Alcusses of Moixent, Spain"

Abstract eng:
The project aimed at the global improvement of the visit to the Iron Age site of ‘La Bastida de les Alcusses’ (Moixent, Valencia, Spain) by introducing issues of inclusive design and accessibility. Two types of facilities were designed and implemented. On the one hand, the implementation of limiting and security elements has been undertaken, which allows a better interpretation of the itinerary and generates viewpoints over the landscape. On the other hand, we have implemented three bronze-cast tactile models in the itinerary of the visit. They facilitate the understanding of some aspects of the organization of the whole settlement while also bringing recreations of buildings and architectural features that are essential to understand the built environment in the site. We finally contend that these rather simple models have proved to be highly efficient resources for attracting visitors and increasing their implication and participation in the enjoyment of the place.
