000002432 520__ $$2eng$$aUsing a supply chain conceptual framework, this paper examines the traditional Syrian silk industry and measures and projects undertaken by governmental and nongovernmental and international organizations and agencies in the past 50 years, with the aim of safeguarding or developing it. It concludes that using a supply chain orientation is central to planning and implementing successful interventions for traditional crafts and not using it could lead to unintentional harm.
