000002484 520__ $$2eng$$aAnalysis of the evolution of existing buildings energy conditions, is essential to work towards the goal of reducing energy consumption in the building sector. San Sebastian’s extension (Antonio Cortázar, 19th century), was a major step in the city’s evolution, suffering several transformations along the way. This study aims to analyze the influence of San Sebastian’s extension building typologies, listed as of historical and architectural interest, into the energy demand and comfort conditions. It has been made a study of the most significant changes that buildings have suffered (elevations, materials…) and it concludes that the alterations in those particular buildings suppose an important reduction in the quality of the indoor natural light and a reduction of façade incident radiation of 40.00% on average. The aim of this study is to define the basis for developing a method to make an energy zoning and to extrapolate this method to other cities.
