Potentiality of the traditional earthen architecture for touristic uses. Amnay Kasbah, a hostel in Bou T'Aghrar, M'Goun River Valley, Morocco

Abstract eng:
In the southern Atlas valleys and pre-Saharan territories we may find some of the most significant cases of integration capacity of human beings in the least friendly nature. This tough battle (or strange symbiosis?) has generated modes of life austere and their own culture, the Berber or Amazigh, developed in a striking settlements in some of the most breathtaking scenery on planet, producing a unique architecture of great dignity despite its fragility, of great harmony and beauty. They are places where today, new generations do not hesitate to leave behind the rigorous demands of traditional way of life, attracted by external developments of a desired but elusive "progress". From such tensions arise lot of contradictions and conflicts of values, so some of their most distinguished (and appreciated) identity symbols are abandoned. However, the maintenance of some of these hallmarks, a target for a potential tourism, maybe not massive, but for the people interested in what is different in the others and their values (best way to know oneself), can be linked precisely to the desired progress. The earthen architecture produced here some of his most notable examples and typological developments, notable both for themselves, with its natural response and territorial integration, as to investigate new ecological building requirements. Its values and external recognition must also be assumed and valued by their makers and residents, and nothing would contribute and would impact more on its economic progress. The intervention in Amnay Kasbah, a simple but honest hostel in the village of Bou T'Aghrar, is proposed to the purpose of its rehabilitation from the highest respect for his integrity, and the intention of unlocking value, so that it could serve as reference to similar actions.
