The Comparision Between Superplasticizer and Air-Entraining Admixture Influence on Porosity Structure Parameters of SCC

Abstract eng:
Based on the actual state of knowledge, and in accordance with the PN-EN 2006-1:2003 norm, it is recommended to use air entrainment as a basic way of assuring the frostresistance of concrete. In case of self-compacting concrete (SCC) achievement adequate airentrainment is problematical question, because one of the side-effects of functioning of some new generation superplasticizers (SP) is forming much larger than 2% air content in selfcompacting concrete mix. In the paper, the problem of the air-entrainment (AEA) is discussed, formed as a results of acting of superplasticizer on the characteristics both of the concrete and mixture, depending on the content. The structure’s tests show that air pores, depending on the level of mix flowability, can be regular and similar in shape and size to pores formed as the result of air-entrainment admixture action. Issues connected with this fact are the subject of this paper.
