Influence of masonry typology and mortar joints on the mechanical behaviour of masonry walls


Abstract eng:
The aims of the paper are the following: to develop a consistent usable classification of historic masonry typologies, to outline general considerations about the mechanical behaviour of different masonry types, to outline the influence of mortar joints in masonry, and the consideration necessary when repairing and replacing mortar in different types of masonry (rebuilding, repointing, injecting grouts).
