Flow parameters measurement in the channel with negative step of extreme relative height

Abstract eng:
Technique and results of measurement of flow parameters in the channel model of rectangular cross-section with a negative bottom step are presented. The flow was alternatively arranged with and without free water surface. The contact-less measuring techniques, i.e. Laser Doppler Anemometry (LDA) and Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV), were used for the measurement of mean and pulsation velocity components. The measurement was carried out in several different regimes of flow. The results of measurement in a relatively simple technical element were destined for subsequent calibration and verification of mathematical models of turbulent flow.
