The study examines the validity of a simple, approximate design methodology, initially proposed in the late 70’s and now recommended in design guidelines to compute rotations of slender structures by performing iteration either on the true displacement response spectrum or design spectrum. This paper shows that the simple design approach is inherently flawed and should be abandoned, in particular for smaller, less-slender blocks. 000004741 540__ $$aText je chráněný podle autorského zákona č. 121/2000 Sb. 000004741 653__ $$aRocking, Uplift, Seismic Response, Earthquake Engineering 000004741 7112_ $$a15th ASCE Engineering Mechanics Division Conference$$cNew York (US)$$d2002-06-02 / 2002-06-05$$gEM2002 000004741 720__ $$aMakris, Nicos$$iKonstantinidis, Dimitrios 000004741 8560_ $$ffischerc@itam.cas.cz 000004741 8564_ $$s250999$$uhttp://invenio.itam.cas.cz/record/4741/files/258.pdf$$yOriginal version of the author's contribution as presented on CD, . 000004741 962__ $$r4594 000004741 980__ $$aPAPER
