000010080 520__ $$2eng$$aCapacity of energy dissipation of shear link as a source of energy dissipation in reinforced concrete (RC) building rehabilitated using eccentric steel bracing is investigated. Some RC braced frames are analyzed subjected to strong ground motion. The focus of this study is mostly on the quantity of energy dissipated in shear link and its effectiveness on seismic performance. Height-wise distribution of steel bracing in the RC frame is changed to develop a better understanding of impact of shear link on seismic performance. Various values of KL/r are examined to investigate the link design parameters on its hysteric energy. The results show that shear link energy dissipation capacity can improve seismic performance of RC buildings.
