Factors such as the depth of overlying soil site and fault dip are taken into account. The earthquake rupture characteristics of overlying soil under dip-slip fault displacement were studied by numerical illustration. Calculating results show that the rupture response of overlying soil site caused by reverse fault movement is severe than that caused by the normal fault displacement.
