MR damper (magnetorheological fluid damper) is one of the suitable devices for semi-active seismic response control of structures. The purpose of this study is to develop a simple and effective semi-active control method to reduce seismic response of base isolated structures by MR damper. Proposed method is only based on the response displacement of isolated story, and attempt to reduce response displacement of isolated story and acceleration to superstructure. By applying this control method, the displacement and acceleration response can be reduced with relatively smaller damper force.
