A nonlinear torsional hysteretic model developed by Tirasit and Kawashima (2007) is implemented to analyze pier torsion due to combined torsion and bending interaction. Pounding and failure of bearings are also included in analysis under a near-field ground motion. The analysis shows that nonlinear torsion of the pier is important on the seismic response of the bridge.
