000011185 520__ $$2eng$$aIn this article, a procedure is presented for strong motion prediction which is suitable for the areas with high seismicity but less information on subsurface structures. The procedure begins with temporal earthquake observation at a construction site for important structures and then proceeds to the evaluation of the site effect based on the records. The validity of the method is demonstrated for shallow crustal earthquakes in Japan.
