A study has been undertaken to investigate the out-of-plane seismic performance of brick veneer wall systems over wood framing, representing typical modern U.S. construction practice. Finite element (FE) models of brick veneer wall systems have been developed based on the results from tie connection and veneer wall experimental studies. These models have been used to carry out parametric studies, evaluating the effects on the out-of-plane seismic performance of brick veneer walls due to geometric variations in their construction, as well as from different brick veneer tie connection details. These studies have been used to establish the framework for seismic fragility analysis of this form of construction.
