000011514 520__ $$2eng$$aDuring 2003 Tokachi-Oki earthquake (M=8.0) in Japan, many oil storage tanks in Tomakomai were damaged by sloshing due to long-period strong ground motion with high level from 4 to 8 seconds. In this paper, to establish countermeasures against sloshing for floating-roofed oil tanks, the authors investigate sloshing behaviors in consideration of the existence of actual floating-roof, and propose some countermeasures such as an earthquake-resistant structure, an isolation system and a vibration control method for floating-roof sloshing.
