First, a typical cable-stayed bridge with prestressed concrete girders (PC cable-stayed bridge) was selected for analysis and modeled for shaking table tests in consideration of the similarity law. Second, shaking table tests of the PC cable-stayed bridge model were carried out to clarify the mechanisms involved, focusing on the linear and nonlinear seismic behaviors of the tower and cables by using the long-period components of the simulated ground motions in the 1999 Chi-Chi, Taiwan earthquake and the simulated long-period ground motions in the anticipated Nankai earthquake as the input ground motions.
