An alternative system was used because RFID tags with sensors and built-in memory are under development in Japan. This system has almost identical performance to that of RFID tags and data communication is performed by wireless LAN. Sensors such as acceleration sensors and wire strain gages are used for structural health monitoring systems. Fundamental performances of these sensors were clarified through shaking table tests using four-story and two-story specimens. Fundamental characteristics of the proposed system and used sensors, and the applicability of RFID tags with sensors to structural health monitoring systems are discussed and clarified based on results of shaking table tests and Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) analyses.
