The work presented expands on these previous studies and establishes the effects of modeling error on the accuracy of the damage detection method. When supplied with appropriately located static measurements, the algorithm is able to accurately detect areas of stiffness reduction of two dimensional structures in the presence of modeling error. Using finite element models and measured static displacements, changes in the stiffness parameters are found. These changes in stiffness indicate locations of potential damage.
