A serial of free vibration column tests of soft clay was conducted to analyze the effects of consolidation time on maximal dynamic shear modulus, dynamic shear modulus ratio and sample’s size of soft clay. According to the basic principle of the free vibration column test, the effects of varied size of sample on dynamic shear modulus of soft clay are analyzed. Combined with the relationships between consolidation time and sample’s size obtained from the tests, the size effects of consolidation time on maximum dynamic shear modulus of soft clay are analyzed.
