Simulation of ionic Electroactive Polymers (EAPs) by considering a thermodynamical consistent model within the framework of the theory of porous media

Abstract eng:
Ionic gels are materials with an enormous swelling or bending capability by different kinds of stimulation, e.g. electrical, chemical and thermal. These enables them for several applications such as artificial muscles or as actuators, see (Bar-Cohen & Zhang 1978). In this contribution a thermodynamically consistent model will be presented in the framework of the Theory of Porous Media (TPM) in order to investigate the mechanisms by electrical and chemical stimulations.
