Elastic buckling and post-buckling behaviour of shells of revolution with special meridian

Abstract eng:
The paper is devoted to the analysis of two examples of non-classical shape of shells of revolution. The meridians of these shells are a plane curvature of the versiera of Agnesi and the Huygens tractrix. These curves are selected to investigations because of similarity of shape. It should be noted that the main parts of the meridians are in the shape of negative and positive Gaussian curvature. Geometrical parameters such as the principal curvature radii of the middle surface or the mass and capacity of all investigated shells of revolution are presented. The elastic buckling and post-buckling behaviour of family of shells with constant capacity and constant mass is analysed. The critical load, buckling modes and equilibrium paths for the family of shells are calculated with the use of the FEM (the ANSYS system).
