Bionics: Learning from nature for sustainable lightweight structures

Abstract eng:
“Bionics” one could define as: “Learning the construction, procedure and design philosophies of nature for a positive cross-linking of humans, environment and technology” (Nachtigall & Blüchel 2000). Therefore architects, engineers, designers and technicians together with biologists research and work about the constructions and organization forms of biology and try to find appropriate inventions and developments for sustainable lightweight structures in engineering, in architecture and product design.
