Then, taking into consideration an experimental programme conducted by the authors, numerical models of circular and square short RuCFST columns under monotonic concentric loading are described. Validation of numerical models arises from good agreement between numerical and experimental results and it is shown that the Concrete Damaged Plasticity model can be extended to the simulation of RuC. Finally, after analyzing the influence of concrete mixes, tube local slenderness and steel yield stress on the confining pressures, a new expression, fitted to the numerical data, is presented to predict the concrete confinement in CFST and RuCFST columns with circular section.
