Elastic buckling characteristics of L-shaped beam-column connection panels for H-section members

Abstract eng:
This study examines elastic buckling characteristics of L-shaped beam–column connection panels for H-section members. Based on the results, the following conclusions are reached: (1) the edges of the panel plate are almost fixed by the panel frame, (2) the buckling form the of bending mode appears in the panel plate and is influenced by bending stress because of the difference in sectional shape, and elastic buckling strength is safely calculated using the stress function used in this study, (3) elastic buckling strength decreases upon increasing the ratio of the section modulus, and elastic buckling strength equation is estimated.
