000012829 520__ $$2eng$$aIn the paper a theoretical procedure about the deformation process –up to the collapse condition—of a masonry 2D solid subjected to an increasing quasi-static loading condition is developed and the relevant model is presented. The presence of friction and of deformation sliding modes is introduced, which is the case when a masonry tissue made of regular blocks is encountered rather than a chaotic masonry, and the relevant optimization problem is formulated.
