A test procedure based on dynamic in-situ measurements is proposed and described in detail. The procedure is applied to an existing historic masonry building, and accordingly, investigations are performed on this test object before and after partition walls and parts of the timber ceilings have been removed. From test data the modal parameters of the original and the modified structure have been determined. Evaluation of the results reveals that non-structural walls have a substantial percentage on the global stiffness of the historic test building.
