Since there is no sharp corner, the tall buildings with such cross sections allow the extreme winds at increased height of the buildings to pass by the buildings smoothly without any major interruption in the everyday serviceability of the buildings. The formulas of the dynamic wind load analysis parameters are given for the rectangular and circular sections in different building codes, but not for the parabolic, elliptical or hyperbolic shaped structures. Due to the increasing popularity of these sections for tall buildings, extensive wind tunnel tests should be carried out for building models of these sections, and an appropriate dynamic wind analysis procedures should be developed to calculate the along length and the across length deflection and acceleration at the top of the buildings, and the base shear and the base moments at the bottom of the buildings due to the dynamic wind load. Several structural systems have been compared for the analysis and design of a parabolic cross section 45 storied building in Vancouver in Canada. The overall cost analysis and a structural system has been found out as the most economic structural system.
