In contrast to five typical regimes generally known, i.e., (I) coalescence after minor deformation, (II) bouncing, (III) coalescence after substantial deformation, (IV) reflexive separation, and (V) stretching separation, we have found additional regime named as (VI) rotational separation. This regime is characterized by separation of a merged droplet with a scenario different from that reported in previous studies. In comparison with the existing models, interpretation is provided based on the resultant of the momenta in the reflexive and rotating masses of the merged droplet. Separation may happen if this resultant overcomes the restraining of the surface and viscous forces. The three types of separation can thus be unified into one model and the inconsistency among previous models could be eliminated.
