000013966 520__ $$2eng$$aIn this study we present a framework to characterise the axial dispersion in the turbulent flow of viscoplastic fluids. Assuming Herschel-Bulkley model, we perform the hydraulic calculation for a viscoplastic fluid. Then, we propose a method to correct the well-known logarithmic turbulent velocity profile. Finally, we give an estimate for turbulent diffusivity and axial dispersion. This improves the earlier results of [1] as we demonstrate that the corrections suggested for velocity profile can contribute to significant change in the case of weakly turbulent flows. We also report on the effect of viscoplasticity on dispersion.
