000014035 520__ $$2eng$$aA BIEM (Boundary Integral Equation Method) for computing resonance frequencies for elastic waveguides is presented. We show that M¨uller’s integral equation may suffer from complex fictitious eigenfrequencies although this equation is known to be without real ones. We propose a new BIE formulation which resolves this problem and show numerical examples of resonance frequencies obtained with this formulation.
