Scanning electron microscopy images are also taken to quantify the density of cracks and voids of each fractured specimens which are then utilized to define the evolution of internal defects. A microstructure-based yield surface and an energy-based damage model were utilized and incorporated into a thermodynamic consistent formulation to accurately describe the coupled damage-plasticity behavior of C45 steel at high temperatures. Good correlation was observed between the model predictions and the experiments.
