000014312 520__ $$2eng$$aA multi-component model for predicting the mechanical properties of nanocomposites reinforced with whiskers and nanocomposites reinforced with bristled nanowires is presented. The mathematical formulation of the model is based on using the Muskhelishvili complex potentials for each domain occupied by a separate component. As an example, the effective elastic constants are computed for a generic fibrous composite with three different densities of bristles growing on the core reinforcing fibres.
