000014345 520__ $$2eng$$aThe dynamic instability of doubly -tapered rotating cantilever laminated composite beams due to periodic rotational velocity is investigated. The Rayleigh-Ritz method in conjunction with the classical lamination theory is used to obtain the system mass and stiffness matrices for the case of out-of-plane bending vibrations. Bolotin’s method is applied to determine the instability regions. The combined effects of width and thickness taper on the dynamic instability of the rotating laminated beam are studied. In addition, to verify the instability analysis results, time responses are investigated at different locations of the instability region by using the Run ge-Kutta method.
